Government-Issued Photo ID
Driver's license, passport, or provincial ID. Required by most landlords to verify identity.

Recent Pay Stubs
Last 2–3 pay stubs showing consistent income. Most landlords want to see gross monthly earnings equal to at least 2.5–3x the rent.

Employment Letter
A letter from your employer on company letterhead confirming your position, start date, and salary. Standard in competitive rentals.

Notice of Assessment (NOA)
Your most recent CRA tax assessment. Especially important for self-employed applicants or those without traditional pay stubs.

Credit Report
A full credit report from Equifax or TransUnion. Free reports are available directly from equifax.ca or transunion.ca. Landlords use this to assess financial reliability.

Reference Letter from Previous Landlord
A letter confirming you paid on time, respected the property, and were a good tenant. Carries significant weight in competitive markets.
